This series makes use of the glossy, oddly square format of the ArtForum magazine. It's also a sly form of manipulating the art scene rather than being manipulated by it. I take my cue from the cover as to how I choose to reorganize the magazine, and I view it as an archeological process. I remake the magazine by slashing into it, digging through it, and pulling out the pieces that ultimately drape through the cover. The process keeps the magazine intact; I don't take out and put back the pages, I merely change the form of the magazine.

WOMAN I use the actual pages from the New York Times for this series. I block out most the photograph and text through a process of burnishing the page with a 9B graphite pencil, leaving untouched the patterns of the clothing the women are wearing. The Invisible Woman Series evolved through my continuing investigation into the invisibility of women's work. The women are rendered invisible, and the work of covering the page with graphite mimics the repetitive and often unseen efforts of household tasks. |

I consider the Football Cutouts from the New York Times drawings made with scissors. The process deals with chance occurrence and transformation. I focused the Football Cutouts on photographs from the New York Times sport pages. I scan and print the photos on Japanese inkjet paper, then fold and cut them with scissors. By Isolating the gesture of the players with the cut incisions that surround them, the narrow readings of the photo is altered resulting in a heighten query into the human condition.
